In 1976 Paul and Cynthia O’Mara decided to start O’Mara Farms.

Their vision was to produce high-quality food to feed as many people as possible. Their first venture was growing snap beans, and squash for Birds Eye. The vegetables were rotated with corn and wheat.  In 1978 they bought their farm in Canastota, New York.  Paul and Cindy raised four children and currently have thirteen grandchildren.

PAUL AND CINDY O’MARA

Over the years Paul and Cindy grew the farm business. They slowly began growing other crops, including the non-GMO barley.  The barley is used today to finish their Black Angus cattle, which was added in 2005. O’Mara Farms believes grazing cows and calves on pasture and finishing cattle on hay and barley grown on their farm produces premium quality beef.

The family-run business farms 3,000 acres producing corn, green beans, barley, wheat, and rye, as well as hay throughout Madison and Onondaga County.

With the purchase of five Black Angus cows, the farm’s herd continues to expand making it possible to directly market beef to our local communities. Together with their sons, Scott and Ryan, and several dedicated employees, the O’Mara family works tirelessly to produce high-quality beef products from their pasture to your plate.

Scott has devoted the better part of twenty years to agriculture. The family-run business farms 3,000 acres producing corn, green beans, barley, wheat, and rye, as well as hay throughout Madison and Onondaga County. Scott and Dominique’s home is situated on O’Mara Farms, which provides 40 acres of grazing pasture for the farm’s calf-cow operation, which produces premium Black Angus beef.
